KEBUMEN, KOMPAS.com – Resort Police Kebumen continue to explore the case firecracker explosion which killed four youths in Ngabean Village, Mirit Subdistrict, Kebumen, Central Java, Wednesday (12/5/2021) afternoon.
Kebumen Police Chief AKBP Piter Yanottama said the team from the Central Java Police Forensic Laboratory had been dispatched to assist the investigation.

From the scene of the incident, it is known that the enormity of the explosion caused the firecracker projectile to be ejected up to a radius of 12 meters.
“The exploded firecracker powder is estimated to be around 2-3 kilograms, but we are still investigating the exact number. Only we found about 400 unfilled firecrackers in the sack, the size is also rather large,” said Piter when contacted by telephone, Thursday (13/5/2021).

From the results of the witness examination, continued Piter, the trigger of the explosion was also suspected to have occurred because some of the victims were making firecrackers while smoking.
“The results of the witness’ examination, of the seven people who made the firecrackers, when they put the firecracker powder into the shell, half of them were smoking,” he said.
As previously reported, firecracker explosion in Kebumen occurred on Wednesday (12/5/2021) around 17.30 WIB.
At that time, there were seven people who were making firecrackers at Untung’s house.
Each of the dead victims were Taufik Hidayat (27), Rizky Efendi (21), Rio Dwi Pangestu (22) and Sugiyanto (23).
Meanwhile, the injured victims were Bambang Priyono (29), Alib (24), Irwan (25) and Ratna.
