Toledo hosts its book fair until May 16. A different fair marked by the coronavirus pandemic, but which does not lose its spirit to promote the value of reading.
Fewer booths but the same goal: to encourage reading
With fewer booths and trying to keep our distance, the Toledo Book Fair these days hosts numerous activities ranging from book signings, presentations and different activities. A way to breathe life into the city and also to a sector that has had a difficult time during the pandemic.
In total, 58 writers will pass through the Plaza de Zocodover, who will present or sign their books and will be able to get in touch with the public again. Something that is key for authors who see this type of fairs as a key tool to make their work visible and publicize.
During these days different activities related to reading have also been programmed for all ages.

A sector that begins to recover
From the sector they point out that the confinement has led to an increase in reading, but at the same time many authors and booksellers have had difficulties to get ahead, having to close their bookstores or suspend all kinds of promotional events. A situation that has improved in 2021 and that, with the return of fairs like this one, seems to be beginning to recover.
Because, although the pandemic has taken many things from us, we can still learn, discover or evade reality, through books.
