The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) usually updates its data in the morning, but sometimes not until the afternoon. Due to the delay in reporting, the RKI values usually do not correspond to the infection rate, but are too low. As a second number, we therefore give an estimate of how high the 7-day incidence could be without delay in reporting. This value comes closer to the actual development of the pandemic. You can see it when you click on one of the circles. Read more about the incidence values here.
No circle over the 100 limit
The Duchy of Lauenburg district has the highest incidence in Schleswig-Holstein – it is 79.8. The state capital Kiel has the second highest value with 78.6. The independent city of Flensburg has the lowest incidence at 16.6.
Development of the number of corona cases in Schleswig-Holstein
A decision is made on Wednesdays
The state government always decides on Wednesdays on the basis of the incidence values of the counties and urban districts which rules apply in which region. This affects the retail trade, daycare centers and schools. On Tuesday (May 11th) the state government specified the further easing steps for gastronomy, tourism, sport and culture from May 17th.
Vaccinations against the coronavirus
People in Schleswig-Holstein have been vaccinated against the coronavirus since December 27, 2020. The vaccination quota shows what percentage of northern Germans have already received the first of the two currently required vaccinations.
173 corona patients in clinics
173 people who have tested positive for Corona are currently being treated in the country’s hospitals. That’s four more than the day before. 54 of the Covid-19 patients are in intensive therapy (+1), 37 patients have to be ventilated (+4).
The following map shows the utilization of the intensive care units in Schleswig-Holstein – summarized at the level of the districts and urban districts. If you select a region (touch or click), you will find out exactly how high the load is there and you will receive information on how many corona patients are being treated in the intensive care unit and how many are being ventilated. The status of the date in the table must be observed. Due to delays in the reporting process, the information provided by the clinics or the DIVI intensive care register may differ.
What these numbers say – and what not
The state government’s statistics show how many confirmed corona infections are known to the authorities in the country and were reported in the intended way. What the statistics cannot clearly show, let alone the current day, is the speed at which the virus is spreading. Because the number of people who have newly tested positive usually also includes post-reported cases from several days. There are delays in the reporting chain, especially around weekends and public holidays.
Regional corona data on the infection process
Some administrations publish a regional evaluation of the corona numbers, but mostly not up-to-date. A selection:
