The dates of the resumption of Broadway shows
On April 29, 2021, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a full reopening of New York. One exception, however: the main Broadway shows will not raise their curtains until September 2021. But things are well under way: the Broadway League has presented a first schedule of the revival. Here are the first dates announced:
- Jagged Little Pill, starting September 7, 2021.
- Jersey Boys, from September 8, 2021.
- The Play that Goes Wrong, starting September 8, 2021.
- Chicago, one of Broadway’s most famous musicals, will resume from September 17, 2021.
- Diana, the Musical, from December 1, 2021. For the time being, however, it is not yet possible to book this musical which will undoubtedly be the event of the winter.
A reopening under surveillance
- Obviously, the resumption of shows will be done in strict compliance with the rules in force. “Theater owners, producers and members of the Broadway League will continue to work with the New York State Department of Health and the Governor to coordinate the industry’s return and health and safety protocols. necessary, ”insists Charlotte St. Martin, President of the Broadway League. “We remain cautiously optimistic about Broadway’s ability to resume performances this fall and we are pleased that viewers can start buying tickets again,” she continues.
