Stocks New York: Fears of inflation drive investors to flight | 05/11/21

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – As at the beginning of the week, inflation worries pissed off investors in the US stock markets on Tuesday. Rising raw material prices as well as the upcoming announcement of current price data from the USA on Wednesday are causing increasing nervousness on the US stock exchanges.

The Dow Jones Industrial (Dow Jones 30 Industrial), which the day before had risen above the 35,000 point mark to another record high for the first time, was trading on Tuesday 0.69 percent lower at 34,502.80 points. The market-wide S&P 500 lost 0.69 percent to 4159.72 meters. The technology-heavy NASDAQ 100 lost 0.67 percent to 13,269.23 points after it had already slumped 2.6 percent at the start of the week./edh/he
