In Nieuwveen, Jill and her family have been living between the cold and the vermin for three years. Jill’s children are terrified and have been sleeping in her bed for years, while her husband Marcel sleeps elsewhere every night. “We live like brother and sister”, the desperate Jill opens a candid book when John comes to get the story. “I stayed with him, because I still love him to a certain extent (…) He is the father of my children. I don’t think you should just throw in the towel and think: this is it. Then. That’s not how I grew up either. “
Not only the house – which lacks a roof – is therefore a mess, their relationship is also on the verge of collapse. Jill is now completely through it. She herself does as much as she can, while her husband Marcel prefers to stay in the shed. The family suffers greatly from it and for Jill the size is now full.

While the love of the participating couples is often hard to find, this time John is very impressed by the situation. Jill is already horrified by a simple kiss or hug. She even had a relationship with another man for a while, while she was still with Neville. And that still hurts him, says Marcel when John comes to see him.
“There was a time when we said: the barn is mine and the house is yours (…) We agreed to stay together for the kids,” but according to both John and Marcel, that is not enough to make their relationship to save. “I’m still crazy about her, still. But it has happened before that she has fallen in love with someone else.”

It is also make or break for Jill and Marcel, who do not feel that the house belongs to him. “I don’t really think it’s my house. It is furnished the way she wants, with all the trimmings from her. Up to her room”, he confides in John, who decides to include Jill in the conversation as well. “Something needs to be done about your relationship,” the presenter said to them. And there, both Jill and Marcel agree.
John therefore tries to bring the couple closer together with a photo shoot, and that seems to be paying off. Not only the roof has been made by the team Help my husband is a handyman! restored, also their relationship. For example, they are (more often) in one bed again and are open to work on their relationship. A win-win situation!
