Leading Saudi Arabian Women Activist, Loujain al-Hathloul Is Again Called For Interrogation

SERAMBINEWS.COM, RIYADH– Leading women’s rights activists Saudi Arabia, Loujain al-Hathloul has been summoned for questioning by security forces.

The summons, only three months after he was released from prison, said a relative on Sunday (9/5/2021).

Alia al-Hathloul, who lives in exile in Europe, allowed to The Associated Press (AP), her sister was asked to report.

The AP reported that he had to come to the office of the Interior Ministry’s Directorate General of Investigation, or “mabaheth”, in the capital, Riyadh.

He first announced on Twitter.

It is not immediately clear why al-Hathloul was called.

The activist was released from prison on February 10, 2021 after 1001 days of detention, including solitary confinement and allegations of torture

He was tried and found guilty in December 2018 by an anti-terrorism court on charges related to his activism.

He became the most prominent at Saudi Arabia which pushed for greater women’s rights and women’s right to drive cars before the ban was lifted in mid-2018.

The conditions for his release from prison include a five-year travel ban and three years of probation.
