The demonstrators walk from the square to the Westerpark, where various speakers take the floor. The initiator of the action day is Windalarm, in collaboration with action groups from all over the country.
On Monday, the activists will have a digital meeting with the Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema, her spokeswoman says. They then hand over a petition and a bundle of personal concerns about the construction of large wind turbines.
The action groups are against the plans of many municipalities, including Amsterdam, to install mega wind turbines near residential and nature areas. They fear the consequences for public health, such as stress and insomnia from the noise nuisance caused by the turbines.
