The current world No. 6 tops a list of tennis stars born since 1997 who have recorded the most official victories over the Big 3 – combined nickname of Roger Federer, Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Born in 1997, the German has nine career wins over the Big 3, four of which have been against the Swiss champion. Alexander Zverev has the most wins over Big 3 among players born since 1997 Additionally, Zverev holds a 4-3 lead over Federer in seven head-to-head matches in his career.
The quarter-final victory over Nadal gave him his third straight win over the Spaniard, helping him reduce his head-to-head deficit to 3-5. With another pair of career wins over Djokovic, the current No.
1 to his credit, Zverev has a record against the Big 3 that few among the current crop can replicate.
Current world No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, born in 1998, is second on the list with six career wins and two against Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.
Russian tennis star and current world number 7 Andrey Rublev is third on the list with one win each against Federer and Rafael Nadal. In his only on-court encounter with the Swiss to date, the Russian topped the champion at the 2019 Western and Southern Open.
Achieving possibly his biggest victory on clay, Rublev, born in 1997, defeated 11-time champion Nadal at the Monte-Carlo Masters this year. Canadian star Denis Shapovalov, born in 1999, rounds out the list at No. 4 with a single win over the 13-time French Open champion.
The likes of current World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev and current US Open Dominic Thiem, who are also poised to carry the Big 3’s legacy forward, also have career wins over the trio, but they were born before 1997.
