United States: Towards New Records for the Trade Deficit?

The March data for foreign trade in goods point to a further worsening of the trade deficit. Indeed the trade deficit of goods reached a record level of 90.6 billion USD over the month. The last three months have seen imports accelerate sharply, + 7.5%. Exports are almost as dynamic (+ 6.6%) but as the former are 1.6 times larger than the latter, the deficit is widening sharply.
