In Denmark, nearly 50 people have been infected with a variant of the coronavirus, which was originally found in Mexico, BTA reported.
Authorities did not describe the outbreak as particularly dangerous. The “Mexican” version is no different from the original virus. It is not yet clear how the Mexican version landed in the country.
This is the biggest outbreak of this option in the northern European country, said today to the Ritsau agency the associate of the patient safety service Bente Moler.
The infected are mostly staff and customers of a restaurant in the Norrzelan area, north of the capital Copenhagen. However, they have infected other people as well.
So far, almost 1.5 million people in Denmark have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, which is close to a quarter of the population. Nearly 800,000 people in the country also received the second dose needed for complete protection against the virus.
