Saran still has his fate in hand in the race to the direct climb in Starligue. By winning this Friday night at home against Strasbourg (28-25), the Septors have fulfilled their part of the contract and even temporarily regained first place in Proligue. Pontault-Combault, whom the Loirétains will challenge Tuesday in a match that promises to be capital, is playing this Saturday against Dijon (6th) at 7:30 pm.
Two days after the setback inflicted by Pontault (21-22), Saran, perhaps physically blunt, was not completely in control of his subject, but provided the essentials against Strasbourg thanks to an excellent Nicolas Gauthier (12 saves out of 23 in the second period).
Eight in the field …
After a great start to the game (6-1, 11th), the Loirétains helped the Alsatians to return to the match by committing avoidable blunders, such as this sequence in which they found themselves eight in the field (16th), sanctioned by an exclusion of two minutes. Often late in the defensive retreat, the Septors remained at the mercy of Strasbourg (15-13, 27th).
Not always sovereign in the second half despite ten good first minutes (22-17, 41st), the Saranese, who however never let go of the game owed their salvation to an imperial Nicolas Gauthier, who discouraged any attempt to return visitors. Saran streaked to victory and won 28-25.
