The Portalblau de l’Escala Festival expands horizons with two new stages and novelties beyond the traditional musical offer. Judit Neddermann, Miki Núñez and Manel appear as headliners. The festival, to be held from from July 17 to August 15, will feature dance, poetry and literature proposals. Will open with a tribute to Joan Margarit in which Carles Duarte and Maria Rubert de Ventós will talk about the Catalan poet and architect and will recite some of his works. In the traditional Mar d’en Manassa and Fòrum d ‘Empúries stages -with a maximum capacity of 1,200 people- you will be able to listen to Judit Neddermann (August 1), Alba Carmona (August 2), María Arnal and Marcel Bagés (August 6), Andrea Motis and Randy Greer (August 7), Oques Grasses (August 13), Manel (August 14) August) and Miki Núñez, which will close the edition. Suu will perform on July 30 in the Mar d’en Manassa -capacity for 300 people- in acoustic format. Apart from singing, he will also recite verses from his collection of poems ‘Fauna o amor’ published in 2020.

“Beyond bringing well-known musical artists, I am interested in proposing cultural experiences that discover things”, explains Cristina Torres, director of the festival since last year. It maintains its commitment to proposals of all kinds linked to “the values of Mediterranean culture”. The festival will present Dafné Kritharas, singer between East and West (August 3) and the El Paller Contemporary Dance Company will premiere ‘Caterina Albert i Paradís’ (July 23), a creation about the author of ‘Solitud’ in the Cementiri Mariner de L ‘Escala where she is buried. This is one of the two new stages of Portalblau together with the Jardí Clos del Pastor where Mireia Calafell, author of ‘Nosotros, who’ (LaBreu), Mallorca prize for poetry, will offer a poetry recital accompanied by the cellist Björt Rùnars (24 of July).
In addition, the first collaboration with the Olot Sismògraf festival will allow to see ‘Cossoc’, an evocative contemporary dance duo performed by the Slovenian Anamaria Klajnšček and the Catalan Magí Serra. And as a result of the synergies with the Festival Mot de Girona, Manuel Forcano you will converse with some of the most interesting and versatile Moroccan novelists, Mahi Binebine.
