The municipal government of Palma has approved this Wednesday the so-called Special Tourist Intervention Zones (ZEIT), so that from April to September, 24 hours a day, different prohibitions are established depending on the area to avoid unfair acts and inconvenience to neighbors such as drinking alcohol on the streets.
This regulation is governed by the municipal ordinance for the civic use of public spaces (Orucep), which sets fines of up to 3,000 euros for very serious offenses.
The ZEIT on alcoholic beverages covers the Paseo Marítimo, the downtown area, Joan Miró street and Playa de Palma: the sale and consumption of alcohol to minors, the incitement and advertising of its consumption and the sale and alcohol consumption on public roads.
The dynamic advertising ZEIT includes the entire Playa de Palma, where dynamic advertising is not allowed, thus avoiding the dirt and bad image of brochures thrown on public roads.
There is a ZEIT for the “Biergardem calle Bartolomé Salvá”. Here, public establishments are forced to physically delimit the terraces to prevent customers from invading the public thoroughfare and consuming it in the middle of the street. The purpose is to avoid noise and alcohol consumption on public roads.
Another ZEIT will be applied to Joaquim Verdaguer street, in the beach area. In this area, when the discos and other nightlife establishments are closed, the restaurants in this and other streets serve fast food that is consumed on public roads from early in the morning.
For this reason, it is prohibited to serve food and drink for consumption outside the establishments and thus avoid inconvenience to neighbors and crowds of people on public roads.
This year, the ZEIT declaration affects the residents of Calle Pare Bartomeu Salvá, the section between Calle Llaüt and Las Cañas; Las Cañas street, between Agustí Catany and Missió de Santa Bárbara; and Llaüt street, between Agustín Catany and Missió de Santa Bárbara.
Likewise, Joaquim Verdaguer streets, between Cartago and Trasimé streets and the Cartago section between Germà Bianor and Ferran Alzamora are considered ZEIT.
The Avenida Gabriel Roca from number 1 to Torre de Peraires, various sections of Calle Joan Miró, the Playa de Palma area and the center of Palma is also a ZEIT.
On the other hand, the Palma Governing Board has started the file for hiring the ticket office service of the Castillo de Bellver museum and reception, porter and accommodation for the summer season and cultural events.
It will be done by simplified open procedure for a maximum amount of 134,243 euros.
The purpose of the contract is to facilitate access to the castle’s premises, either for your visit or to attend the cultural events that are held, since the Palma City Council does not have sufficient human and technical resources to directly carry out the provision of the service.
In addition, this Wednesday the award of the contract for the modernization of the lighting of the first line of Playa de Palma by a simplified open procedure was also approved for an amount of 43,120 euros. Its duration will be 5 months.
