The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) usually updates its data in the morning, but sometimes not until the afternoon. Due to the delay in reporting, the RKI values usually do not correspond to the infection rate, but are too low. As a second number, we therefore give an estimate of how high the 7-day incidence could be without delay in reporting. This value comes closer to the actual development of the pandemic. You can see it when you click on one of the circles. Read more about the incidence values here.
Neumünster breaks the critical 100 limit again
The city of Neumünster has the highest incidence in Schleswig-Holstein with 114.7. The “federal emergency brake” threatens, as it is already the second day in a row with a value of more than 100. The city of Kiel is at 87.1 and the district of Stormarn at 68.8. The lowest incidences in Schleswig-Holstein are currently in the districts of Schleswig-Flensburg (29.8) and Rendsburg-Eckernförde (30.6). As of today, the emergency brake no longer applies in the Pinneberg district.
Development of the number of corona cases in Schleswig-Holstein
New Corona regulation valid until May 9th
On April 19, an amended Corona Control Ordinance came into force in Schleswig-Holstein. It is valid until May 9th and enables outdoor catering in districts with a stable incidence value below 100. The state government always decides on Wednesdays on the basis of the incidence values of the districts and independent cities which rules apply in which region. This affects the retail trade, daycare centers and schools. Gastronomy is also partly possible in the outdoor area. On Wednesday (May 5th) the state government announced further easing steps for gastronomy and tourism from May 17th.
Vaccinations against the coronavirus
People in Schleswig-Holstein have been vaccinated against the coronavirus since December 27, 2020. The vaccination rate shows what percentage of northern Germans have already received the first of the currently two required vaccinations.
166 corona patients in clinics
166 people who tested positive for Corona (-10) are currently being treated in the country’s hospitals. 48 of the Covid 19 patients are in intensive therapy (-3), 27 patients have to be ventilated (-3).
The following map shows the utilization of the intensive care units in Schleswig-Holstein – summarized at the level of the districts and urban districts. If you select a region (touch or click), you will find out exactly how high the load is there and you will receive information on how many corona patients are being treated in the intensive care unit and how many are ventilated. The status of the date in the table must be observed. Due to delays in the reporting process, the information provided by the clinics or the DIVI intensive care register may differ.
What these numbers say – and what not
The state government’s statistics show how many confirmed corona infections are known to the authorities in the country and were reported in the intended way. What the statistics cannot clearly show, let alone the current day, is the speed at which the virus is spreading. Because the number of people who have newly tested positive usually also includes post-reported cases from several days. There are delays in the reporting chain, especially around weekends and public holidays.
Regional corona data on the infection process
Some administrations publish a regional evaluation of the corona numbers, but mostly not up-to-date. A selection:
