Alerts up to 20 degrees!

After a fairly cool start to May throughout the country, it looks like milder weather next week – especially in southern Norway, writes Meteorological Institute.

First we have to go through a weekend marked by showers. Especially in northern Norway, there will be precipitation this weekend.

The weekend weather

– On Saturday, there will be a good deal of snow and sleet in Finnmark and Troms, in addition to a bit in Nordland as well, says meteorologist Magnus Ovhed, who promises there will not be large amounts.

Then it looks like it will be a little better on Sunday in northern Norway.

– It may be a little sunny, but in some places it will be quite cloudy. There may even be some showers left.

Trøndelag gets a lot of showers on Saturday, but pretty good weather on Sunday, says the meteorologist.

– It can be sun or a little high clouds, says Ovhed.

In Western Norway, Saturday is a bit mixed, with quite a lot of clouds and some showers.

– It is relatively cool in Eastern Norway and Western Norway on Saturday, but during Sunday there will be a low pressure and hot air, which gives a good deal of rain in both Eastern Norway and Western Norway.

Warmer weather

But with this low pressure, the temperatures will also climb upwards. Throughout the week, southern Norway gets a taste of warm air.

– The air says a little north as well, so during the week can come up in periods and cover northern Norway as well, says Ovhed.

It will be a transition to warmer weather, but it can still be quite mixed, with both precipitation and sun. It varies slightly from forecast to forecast, according to the meteorologist.

But it will definitely be warmer in the south, and at times warmer in the north as well.

– How hot can it get?

– In the south it will be at least over 15 degrees, and closer to 20 degrees. Maybe even over 20. In the north it may be over ten degrees, with a little luck, he says.

Weather winner

The low pressure that brings the warm air thus washes over the country on Sunday, but the meteorologist can not promise that it will be so hot right away.

– But it starts on Monday, says Ovhed.

He highlights southern Norway as the weather winner.

– One would think that many places in southern Norway generally get heat you have not had for a while now. Then a lot happens with the weather, there is a little debris and small low pressures that come by, but the warm weather type will dominate in the south, he says about the coming week.

– Do we get a taste of summer?

– It can certainly be some good summer days, I think.

Pollen warning

On Friday, it is birch pollen that will bother allergy sufferers.

The Asthma and Allergy Association warns of a strong spread in Eastern Norway on Friday, while there will be a moderate spread in Inner East Norway and in Western Norway.

In Trøndelag, the spread is described as modest, while there is no spread further north.
