“Drivin ‘Down to Georgia” is one of the many jewels of long unreleased songs by Tom Petty, which are in the super deluxe edition of “Wildflowers” on the record “Finding Wildflowers”.
A music video has now been released for the piece. The clip, directed by Alison Tavel, shows nostalgia-tinged archive footage of Tom Petty by Martyn Atkins and Heartbreakers member Ron Blair.
Although the song was not found on any officially released LP for a long time, Petty played it live. It is one of his “Live On The Road” tunes. You can hear a version of “Drivin ‘Down to Georgia” from 1993 on the box set “The Live Anthology” from 2009.
Another concert version of “Drivin ‘Down to Georgia” from 2010 is also included in the spectacular new edition on a separate disc with live tracks.
