Unidentified people committed acts of vandalism at Fort San Antonio de Ancud, which were uncovered early Tuesday in one of the main outdoor heritage sites in the city, which dates back to the 18th century.
The damage was caused to the canyons and the monolith that recalls the annexation of Chiloé to Chilean territory, and to the walls of Cancagua, which were indiscriminately painted by the subjects.
As reported Agustín Peña, executive secretary of the Cultural CorporationUnfortunately these facts are maintained over time.
In relation to possible reparation measures that could be adopted, the official stressed that this will require the assistance of competent authorities, given the authority that the National Monuments Council maintains over the historic site of Fort San Antonio.
He stressed the importance of the community maintaining the care and respect that a historical place deserves not only for the city, but for the Chiloé archipelago.
In this way, he asked the neighbors, if they had any information about possible perpetrators, to approach the Cultural Corporation, to channel it properly.
