JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Epidemiologist Universitas Indonesia Tri Yunis Miko Wahyono stated that it would be dangerous if a patient was reactive Covid-19 discharged from the hospital before testing negative for Covid-19.
This was conveyed by Miko when he was an expert witness in the trial of the Ummi Hospital swab test case with the defendant Rizieq Shihab at the East Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (5/5/2021).
“In terms of the outbreak it is very dangerous, it will cause (transmission) to many other people,” Miko said when giving testimony on Wednesday.

The sentence came out of Miko’s mouth in response to the public prosecutor (JPU) who asked about the impact if a Covid-19 reactive patient escapes from the hospital.
“If there is a patient who is suspected of being reactive with Covid-19 and is still under sudden treatment, the relevant result is not yet available, the person is fleeing from hospital care, will it lead to problems in terms of epidemiology or not?” asked the prosecutor.
Miko explained, a patient who has not been tested negative for Covid-19 should not be in contact with other people to prevent Covid-19 transmission.
He said, if the patient decides to leave the hospital, the potential for transmission will arise because the patient can make contact with other people.
“If he gets out of the hospital, he contacts, it means he will infect other people,” he said.
However, he said that there are no laws and regulations that regulate these provisions.
“In my opinion, a regulation has been made so that it doesn’t allow people to leave the company’s maintenance facilities, it should be,” said Miko.
Previously reported, the public prosecutor (JPU) said Rizieq left Ummi Hospital at his own request even though he was still exposed to Covid-19.
“On November 28, 2020, it was found out that the defendant was still exposed to Covid-19, but at his own request he left Ummi Hospital as stated in the Return Form, which was signed by the defendant,” said the prosecutor at the trial for reading the charges, Friday (19/3/2021 ).
