JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Former Commander of the Submarine Unit (Dansatsel) Marine Colonel (P) Iwa Kartiwa denied the rumor that he was seriously ill due to iron powder radiation on the submarine.
According to him, the information is not true.
However, he admitted that he had been sick since 2017.
Currently, his body condition is fairly weak and has limitations so he cannot do much activity.
Iwa said the incident began in 2017 when he was still the Submarine Unit Commander. At that time, Iwa admitted that he was returning home for the Eid permit.
“When I was at home, when I was with my wife, I was looking down and suddenly fell while coughing. Then we really couldn’t stand up for a month, we were lying in bed. We returned to Surabaya, at that time we were on guard. We still use sticks, that’s the beginning, ”said Marine Colonel (P) Iwa Kartiwa when giving a statement to reporters (4/5).

Iwa then checked himself further at the Navy Hospital (RSAL).
The results of the examination indicated that Iwa was found to be suffering from a pinched nerve.
“We were ordered to go straight to the AL Hospital, we got an MRI and it turns out we got HNP, pinched nerves,” he concluded.
After that time, he admitted that he did not do much activity, even rarely did sports.
According to him, this caused him to be still under treatment.
“After that our activities were reduced for sports. That is what causes our condition is still under treatment. Because we rarely go outside the house. Then we have permission to go to the Navy to rest at home,” he explained.
