New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole and New York Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom were named MLB’s best pitchers of the month for April.
Last month, Cole was 4-1 with a 1.43 ERA and 62 strikeouts in six starts, limiting his opponents to 24 hits and a single home run. He only walked three.

Cole’s 62 strikeouts in April were the second most in Yankees history for a month, surpassed only by Ron Guidry’s 64 in June 1978. For Cole, it is the fifth time in his career that he has been recognized as a pitcher. of the month.
For his part, Jacob deGrom was chosen as the National League Pitcher of the Month for April, leaving in five appearances a 2-2 record with 59 strikeouts, four walks awarded and a 0.51 ERA in 35 innings. The right-hander gave up just 16 hits and two home runs.
This is the first time deGrom has been recognized as Pitcher of the Month and he is the first member of the Mets to win the award since Matt Harvey in April 2013.
