Mexico’s collapsed subway bridge; at least 23 people have died

At least 23 people died in the partial collapse of the subway bridge in Mexico City on Monday night.

Another 70 people were injured, Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum told reporters.

The accident is one of the worst in the Mexico City metro since its opening in 1969.

The videos posted on social media show that on the 12th line of the metro, several wagons fell several meters and hit each other.

The video shows rescuers pulling passengers out of wagons that are still hanging.

Part of the collapsed bridge at the Olivos station in the southeast of the Mexican capital also drove cars.

Due to the unstable position of the wagons, the rescue work had to be stopped, Sheinbaum said.
