In the past year, many disposable mouth caps have been used at Marion. But instead of throwing these out, the 55-year-old saved them up. “I immediately liked the material, because they are bendable. I could do something with that”, she tells EditieNL.
Recycling
Marion likes to make art on themes such as recycling, climate and the environment. “And preferably linked to current events. In this case, corona.”

She is very much looking forward to the moment she gets a vaccination. “That is worth a party and that includes a nice outfit. That is why I made a gala dress. Then I can go there in style.”
Motivation
On the top of the dress, she has written texts that she believes are related to the corona crisis, including ‘stay safe’, ‘vaccine’ and ‘celebrate life’. “It’s a bad time with a lot of negativity. I hope to motivate people to persevere.”

As accessories she also made a bag and a pimped mouth mask with glitter. “All made from my own used mouth masks, otherwise it wouldn’t be hygienic. I don’t know exactly how many they contain.”
Crazy looks
She expects that people at the vaccination site will be surprised. “Of course I am a dick in that dress. But the people here in Rotterdam are really crazy, so they can laugh about it. If not, it doesn’t matter to me either.”
