End of an era! Demolition machines are at work inside the Saint-Michel school, at the intersection of rue de Châteaugiron, rue Saint-Hélier and rue de Vern. They destroy part of the history of this establishment, created in 1889 by Mother Marie Marguerite (100 students at the time) and rebuilt after World War II.
In place of buildings, Bâti Armor (increasingly present in urban projects in Rennes) is planning on this beautiful location a residence made up of 63 apartments from 1 to 4 including 19 apartments available for affordable home ownership! Cours Saint-Michel, that is its name, will house the nursery school on the ground floor.
After this first phase of work, the promoter plans to build four other buildings. However, the primary school building, which was recently renovated, will be saved. By 2025, on the site, the complex should include 145 new housing units in an area close to Rennes train station and five bus stops from the center.
