Residents of Brusque this weekend recorded images of a necklace of lights seen in the sky. According to the astronomer Silvino de Souza, this is the satellite constellation of the Starlink project, of the American aerospace company SpaceX.
According to him, the constellation, so called by the lights passing one after the other, aims to provide global internet coverage. “Satellites are going to provide broadband internet to the whole world, which is the internet via satellite”, says the astronomer.
Also according to Souza, a total of 60 satellites have been launched and can be seen with the naked eye from time to time. “There are weekends that they are brighter, right after launch, as they are in lower orbit.”
The astronomer also explains that the artificial lights are bright because they reflect the sunlight, forming an illuminated necklace in the sky. The satellites of the Starlink project were seen in more places in Brazil this weekend.
“There are days that you will be able to see in the morning. There are days that you will be able to see in the late afternoon. Always just before sunrise or just after sunset. There are days of the week that they spend the brightest, it depends on the position and the time ”, he explains.
In all, 2400 satellites are yet to be launched into Earth orbit until the Starlink project is completed.
