NEW DELHI, KOMPAS.TV – Young doctor in India, dr. Vivek Rai, who is assigned to a private hospital in New Delhi, India, eventually chose to commit suicide after experiencing depression after treating 7-8 critical patients every day in the hospital.
The growing number of Covid-19 positive patients has overwhelmed many medical personnel in India and under severe stress.
The news of the doctor’s death was later reported by the former head of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar via his Twitter account.

“He is a very brilliant doctor from Gorakhpur (Uttar, Pradesh) and helped save hundreds of lives during the pandemic,” said Dr. Ravi quoted from NDTV, Sunday (2/5/2021).
Ravi continued, doctor Vivek Rai has been treating Covid-19 patients in private hospitals for the past month.
During his tenure, he treated seven to eight critical patients every day. The young doctor fell into depression after more and more people were dying of Covid-19.
