Looking for a McLaren P1? This is your chance to get a special copy. The very first P1 will go under the hammer later this month.

The very first, but what does that say? Is it the very first ever built, the very first customer car, the very first chassis number? Well, it is the very first McLaren P1 that left the factory gate in Woking, England and was registered for a customer. The copy in question was handed over to his wealthy customer in October 2013. The chassis number of the car is 023. A personal letter from P1 designer Frank Stephenson is enclosed with the car. The then McLaren Automotive design boss said, “It was with great pleasure that I and our team witnessed you going out into the wide world with our very first baby.” The signed brochure is also available, as is the specific scale model and other literature.

Hardly enjoyed it

Now more than 7.5 years later, the sports coupé painted in Vulcano Yellow with an English registration number is in the hands of the second owner, albeit within the same family. The odometer reads 3,666 miles, converted about 5800 km, so you can say that the two English owners did not or hardly enjoy it. You cannot assume that P1 has been neglected. The sports coupe paid a visit to McLaren Birmingham last September and in 2018 the plug-in hybrid sports car received a new hybrid battery at dealer McLaren Ascot, despite its low mileage.

First supercar

The McLaren P1 was McLaren Automotive’s first supercar. The model followed after the MP4-12C with which the newly founded sports car manufacturer of the English Formula 1 racing team kicked off. The P1 was presented as a concept version at the Paris Motor Show in 2012. A few months later, the car manufacturer showed the production model, after which the construction of the limited edition set at 375 pieces started. Towards the end of the life cycle, McLaren came up with the superlative of the P1, de circuitversie P1 GTR. It was during the development of the Senna that McLaren produced an additional copy of the P1 road version. Which is P1 number 376.

More exclusive than the LaFerrari

The McLaren P1 is a plug-in hybrid sports car. It is powered by an electrified 3.8 liter V8 engine with two turbochargers. The combined pulling power of the eight-cylinder and the electric motor is 916 hp, which is put on the road via the rear wheels. The P1 is able to complete the standstill 100 km / h sprint in 2.8 seconds. The 200 km / h is on the counter after 6.8 counts and the 300 km / h is on it after 16.5 seconds. With the sports coupe, McLaren competed with the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Ferrari LaFerrari. Unlike two competitors, the P1 is only available as a coupé. With 376 units it is also more exclusive than the 918 units of the Porsche and 709 units of the LaFerrari.
