Stuttgart – The Ferry Porsche Foundation has received a donation of five million euros from Porsche AG. The funds are to be used to support projects in the fields of education and digitization in the coming years. It also supports initiatives and organizations that work against child poverty and domestic violence. “Thanks to the donation, the foundation can implement many additional projects,” says Sebastian Rudolph, CEO of the Ferry Porsche Foundation.

More child poverty and domestic violence due to Corona

Due to the ongoing corona pandemic, child poverty and domestic violence have increased significantly in Germany. In education, too, it is more difficult than ever to create equal opportunities for all children and young people. Last Friday, the foundation donated a total of one million euros to six charitable initiatives that support children and young people. Further organizations that will be supported will be selected in the course of the year.

Preparation of used computers

Among the organizations now funded is “Hey Alter!” From Braunschweig. The association collects used computers, mainly laptops, as donations from companies and private individuals. They refurbish the devices and distribute them to students who have not yet had any hardware. “Straßenkinder eV” is also supported by the Porsche Foundation. The association cares for over 200 street children and children from socially disadvantaged and educationally disadvantaged families every day.

The sports car brand is named after the founder

The Ferry Porsche Foundation, founded in Stuttgart in 2018, promotes and initiates charitable projects in the areas of social affairs, the environment, education and science, culture and sport. With its social commitment, the foundation wants, according to its own account, “primarily young people at the company locations of Dr. Ing.hc F. Porsche AG support “. It is named after Ferry Porsche, who founded the Porsche sports car brand in 1948.
