Ironically, an incapacitated motorist crashed into a police patrol vehicle on Sunday night while maneuvering in Buchs SG. The 34-year-old then continued her journey without worrying about the damage. She’s got rid of her driver’s license.
The woman had driven her car backwards out of a parking space at 11.45 p.m. on Saturday evening, as the St. Gallen canton police announced on Sunday. According to her own statements, she then mistook reverse for forward gear and collided with a parked patrol vehicle belonging to the St.Gallen cantonal police.
Two police officers observed the accident and stopped the car driver after a short drive. The driver was judged to be incapable of driving. A blood and urine sample was ordered from her. The police put the damage to property at several thousand francs.
It was not the only such accident in the canton of St. Gallen. In Rüti, a 55-year-old man touched a military vehicle while parking at 9:20 p.m., as reported by the St. Gallen canton police. In this case, too, the driver proved unable to drive and had to take a blood and urine sample. His driver’s license was also taken from him.
