More and more smartphones appear on the market with RAM values above all very high. This is the way for brands to achieve better and higher performance, which is a solution that ends up benefiting users.
Xiaomi now wants to change this scenario and give its smartphones an increase in RAM, without changing any component of the equipment. You will resort to storage and thus achieve this increase only with the activation of a simple button.
Xiaomi's new feature coming soon on Android
Xiaomi's new solution was discovered a few days ago and promises to be very interesting for users of the brand's smartphones. With a simple configuration change, activated with a switch, they can increase the RAM,
It was the programmer Kacper Skrzypek who found this novelty when analyzing what the brand is preparing for the new version of MIUI 13. When analyzing the present code, it found code that revealed a novelty that will arrive soon.
RAM extension support is coming to @miuirom soon… Not implemented yet, so I don't know how much storage and which devices support it. Probably the new ones.@MishaalRahman @aamirXDA pic.twitter.com/wtOH9yRfHo

More RAM on the smartphone without changing anything
Xiaomi smartphone users will be able to activate an option that guarantees up to an additional 2 GB of RAM. This will arise with the creation of a virtual RAM solution, which will use part of the available storage for this purpose.
For this, users need to have that free space and it will no longer be available. Thus, and depending on the need, this additional RAM will be used by Android to host the apps in the background, which work better.
Storage will serve this memory
From what has been discovered, this increase in RAM will be available only in a 1 GB or 2 GB block. It will depend on the hardware of the smartphone and, mainly, on the storage space that is available on the Xiaomi equipment.
Despite being a certainly important improvement that Xiaomi creates, this is not the first time that this mechanism has been used in the Android universe. Vivo previously presented Virtual RAM and OnePlus showed Turbo Boost 3.0 on OnePlus 9.
