The German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) is aware of the potential of the Philippines in the field of renewable energies.
As part of a virtual event, German companies, in close cooperation with Eclareon, the Renewable Energy Association of the Philippines and the Philippine Green Building Initiative, as well as government representatives, exchanged project options and best practices in the energy sector. The event was attended by almost 100 participants and reached 700 people via Facebook.
This conference shows the enormous potential of commercial cooperation between German and Filipino companies in the field of renewable energies. “More than 80 cross-company meetings were organized during this business mandate,” said Stefan Schmitz, President of GPCCI.
In the last few decades, many German companies have established business partnerships in the Philippines. Now more and more German companies are offering unique solutions for off-grid regions with hybrid PV and energy storage systems and would like to enter into partnerships with Filipino companies.
Solar and other renewable energy options are attractive and promoted because of the energy ministry’s renewable energy policy. Fossil fuels in off-grid areas are not sustainable – operationally, economically and environmentally. We need a paradigm shift towards self-sufficiency and a cleaner environment, said Milene Kabungkol, director of the renewable energy management office.
The German energy delegation is a hypothetical business mission for eight German companies – Clean Energy of the 21st Century, BAE Batteries, Dhybrid Power Systems, Ferntech, iQron, Kraftwerk Renewable Power Solutions, Tesvolt and Wollny Consulting.
In the days after the conference, the participating German companies will examine opportunities for a partnership with their Filipino colleagues.
The project is part of the German Initiative for Energy Solutions – an export program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy that supports German small and medium-sized industries in their global reach.
GPCCI is part of the international network of German chambers of commerce abroad, which is represented with 140 offices in 92 countries. GPCCI is the official representation of German companies in the Philippines, a two-member organization with around 300 members and service providers for companies entering the market and expanding.
