Through a statement, the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS) announced that it will join the vaccination process against COVID-19 carried out by the Ministry of Health (MSP) to “guarantee coverage in this area to our retirees, pensioners and affiliates of 65 years ”.

The institution indicated that as of May 3, there will be 24 vaccination points in different provinces that will be determined by medical units and care centers for the elderly of the IESS.

“Retirees, pensioners and members of the IESS 65 years and older and who have not yet received the first dose will be able to check the place and date of their vaccination,” it was specified.

For this task, the portal vaccinacion.iess.gob.ec was enabled, where citizens can check the date, time and point where they will be immunized with their identification number and date of issuance of the document. The page is for reference only.

Several citizens indicated that they received a message stating that their appointment was going to be scheduled by the MSP. Given this, through the Red Vests account, the institution indicated that it is because they belong to the group that is already scheduled by the ministry and they will soon be called to attend their points.
