RIVM reports eleven deaths
RIVM reports eleven new corona-related deaths. Not all of these patients have died within the past 24 hours; there may be a delay between the date of death and the reporting date. In the Netherlands, more than seventeen thousand inhabitants have died from the consequences of the corona virus.
The infographic below shows the number of infections and the number of deaths per age group. Blue stands for infections and red for deaths.

More men than women died of the virus
RIVM receives more reports about men who have died from the consequences of the corona virus than about women with COVID-19 who have died. Since February 27, 2020, 9,222 men have died from the effects of the virus, compared to 7,743 women. These figures are updated weekly.
Women tested positive for the virus more often than men. The RIVM reports 746,647 positive tests among women, while 671,035 men received a positive test result in the same time frame.
This difference may be partly due to the overrepresentation of women in care professions. At the start of the corona crisis, not everyone could be tested due to the limited testing capacity and it was mainly the health care personnel that were tested.
