Lille OSC is still the leader of the French League 1. In the top match against Lyon, it didn’t look like they would hold that position for a long time, but the crafty Burak Yilmaz led his team to a 2-3 victory.
Olympic lyon – Lille OSC 2-3
After forty minutes of play, Lyon, where Memphis Depay played the entire game, had a comfortable lead. Islam Slimani had made it 1-0 and a goal from José Fonte also made it 2-0, but then it was time for Burak Yilmaz to get up. The Turk, who also scored three times against the Orange in the World Cup qualifying series, made it 2-1 before half time with a beautiful free kick.
With that, the goal hunger of the attacker of Les Dogues, where Sven Botman played for ninety minutes, was not yet satisfied. After Jonathan David made it 2-2 in the 60th minute, Yilmaz took his moment five minutes before time and gave Lille the victory with his second goal of the match. That victory keeps that team in the lead in France, while the Lyon of Memphis remains fourth.
Cagliari 3-2 AS Roma
Cagliari was under the relegation line at the start of the game against the number seven, but has taken three valuable points. Carles Pérez fumbled through Charalampos Lykogiannis’s 1-0, but the Sardinians hit back twice as hard in the second half: Marin scored from the second line and also delivered the corner, from which João Pedro headed in the 3-1. Federico Fazio helped Roma to a connection goal, but the guests did not get any further. Cagliari is level with Torino and Benevento in points and pushes Benevento on goal difference in the relegation zone.
Seville-Granada 2-1
Sevilla needed one more victory to secure Champions League football and did what it had to do against fellow countryman Granada. Ivan Rakitic used a penalty after fifteen minutes of play, Lucas Ocampos shot in the 2-0 after half time, after a switch from De Jong. In the extra time it became unexpectedly hectic. Roberto Soldado made the connection goal from a penalty kick and referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea whistled one minute early, after which the players had to go back on the field. However, Sevilla held out and may even secretly dream of the national title: the number four in Spain is three points behind leader Atlético Madrid, which will play against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday evening.
Leeds United – Manchester United 0-0
Manchester United, the number two in the Premier League, remained unbeaten on Elland Road for the 25th time in an away game, but for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that is nothing more than a flag on a mud barge. Substitute Donny van de Beek was also unable to do anything in the final phase: 0-0. The gap between Manchester United and Manchester City is now ten points.
RB Leipzig – VfB Stuttgart 2-0
In Germany, RB Leipzig was too strong for VfB Stuttgart at home. Amadou Haidara and Emil Forsberg scored the goals in the second half. Seventeen-year-old Dutchman Mohamed Sankoh made his debut at Stuttgart. The difference between RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich is seven points with three rounds to go. Bayern missed its first chance to extend the league title against FSV Mainz on Saturday.
