For long months, Marmite remained stranded in the United States due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He has just found his masters, Aline Martin and Arthur Havas, in Flers. (©DR)
He has returned ! It was Friday, April 9, 2021. “I was afraid he wouldn’t recognize me,” recalls Aline Martin. “We were not not seen for many months ! And yet, as soon as I called him, he came running and made me party ”.
Blocked in the United States
A few weeks ago, we brought up the story of Marmite, a dog adopted by Aline Martin and Arthur Havas, two children from Flers (Orne) who moved to the United States. An adoption that took place four years ago in a shelter in United States while Marmite was only three months old. He is a half-beagle, half-husky cross.
In September 2020, Aline Martin and Arthur Havas had to return to France to renew their visas.
A fundraising of € 3,000
We had planned to stay there for two weeks. We did not take Marmite on this occasion as we did not want to inflict such a long plane trip on it. Unfortunately this stay was extended due to the pandemic and it was then impossible to return home to join him.
The couple waited for the situation to improve. In vain. That’s why, in February, Aline and Arthur launched a fundraiser via GoFundMe.
With Marmite’s return trip costing around € 4,000, the couple had launched a fundraiser of € 3,000.
And it worked ! In a few days, the couple were able to reunite the amount requested. “It was even faster than expected,” recalls Aline. ” There have been real solidarity ! I still haven’t gotten over it. “
Under the cockpit
Besides, Aline and Arthur would like to thank everyone who donated.
I don’t know how to thank them, we were so overwhelmed by these gestures.
It then remained to repatriate Marmite. As soon as the sum was collected, Aline and Arthur contacted a specialized company on the spot.
Indeed, before leaving, the dog had to be seen by a veterinarian. “They took care of everything from collecting it from our friend’s house, to transporting it on the plane to the vet. It was really well done! “
