FC Cincinnati suffered a major defeat in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Saturday. New York City was no less than 5-0 too strong for the team of trainer Jaap Stam in-house.
Halfway through, the damage was limited to 1-0 by a hit by Jesús Medina, but in the second half New York was further out thanks to an own goal by Nick Hagglund and hits by Gudmundur Thórarinsson, Valentín Castellanos and again Medina.
Three former Eredivisie players participated at Cincinnati. Kamohelo Mokotjo had a starting place and Jürgen Locadia and Haris Medunjanin were raided by Stam, who did not have access to the injured Maikel van der Werff.
Stam, who was appointed by Cincinnati in May last year to succeed Ron Jans, started the season last week with a 2-2 draw against Nashville SC.
