THE MIND OF THE PEOPLE – A recent study showed more than 5,000 tons of dust space falls to Earth every year.
The study is published April 15, 2021 in the journal Earth and Planetary Science Letters. The study is the result of a 20-year collection of extraterrestrial particles carried out near the Concordia Research Station in Antarctica by an international team of researchers.
According to the study, dust spilled from comets and asteroids continues to rain down on our planet.

Quoted from Earthsky.org, Sunday, April 25, 2021, when these tiny flakes of dust and rock pass through Earth’s atmosphere they usually burn up, and the short-lived light trails created by this burning debris are called meteor.
If meteor does not burn completely, the remaining part hits the Earth then it is called meteorit.
A special kind of meteorit small particles are known as micrometeorites: particles measuring a few tenth to one hundredth of a millimeter. These micrometeorites always fall on Earth.

The goal of the new research is to determine how much interplanetary dust is reaching the surface earth every year.
To collect and analyze micrometeorites, the researchers undertook six expeditions over the past two decades, near the Franco-Italian station Concordia, in Antarctica’s Dome C, one of several peaks or “domes” of the Antarctic Ice Sheet.
