A full rescue operation was launched on Saturday night after a report of a serious fall accident in Engvika in Halden.
The main rescue center in southern Norway quickly sent out a rescue helicopter.
– We have been notified of a fall accident in the terrain in Halden. One person has fallen 20 meters, says operations manager Ronny Samuelsen in the Eastern police district to TV 2.
Samuelsen informs at 20.30 that the emergency services have just arrived at the place, which is located on the outskirts of Halden center.
– The injured is a man. He was unconscious when he was flown to Ullevål hospital, with critical injuries, says Samuelsen.
The operations manager states that work is being done to notify the man’s relatives.
– There have been other people in the area when the fall occurred, but we have not received any witness information yet. We keep all possibilities open when it comes to the course of events, says the operations manager.
The area where the man has fallen should be a popular hiking area with several very steep slopes and cliffs.
