Streaming is gaining the upper hand, but at the same time film distributors are still relying on discs – whether DVD, Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray. While many are satisfied with Netflix and Co., there are still many old-school collectors who like to put their films on the shelf. For example in limited collector’s editions that not everyone gets.
A lot of exquisite editions await us in the next few weeks. And while in the recent past many collectors went empty-handed when, for example, “Blade”, “V for Vendetta” or “The Lord of the Rings” appeared in a 4K steelbook, you can get some Secure the highlights of the coming weeks now – as long as they are still available. “Star Wars”: Send steelbooks for little money

More Steelbooks: From “Indiana Jones” in 4K to “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”
As recently confirmed, Steven Spielberg’s “Indiana Jones” series will be released for the first time on June 10th on 4K Blu-ray – optionally as a strictly limited steelbook edition, which topped the sales charts on Amazon and is currently even at the top of the online giant is no longer available. And science fiction fans can look forward to a whole range of pieces of jewelery – provided you can appreciate the unusual cover artwork of Warner’s latest steelbook series. After the first two titles (“THX 1138” and “Forbidden Planet”), fans of minimalist designs can look forward to the two Blu-ray steelbooks in the series on May 6th: Steven Spielberg’s “AI – Artificial Intelligence” and “Logan’s Run” – Escape to the 23rd Century ”. Two weeks later, “Cloud Atlas” and “Blade Runner” follow in Final Cut – the latter even including a 4K Blu-ray.

After “Oldboy”, fans of Asian cinema will finally get “Lady Vengeance” and “Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance” in the mediabook – and can complete their revenge trilogy with the two 4K editions on June 25th. Much earlier – namely from the day after tomorrow or April 30th – you will get the horror shocker “Red Screening” (unabridged, of course) and the crazy fantasy war actioner “Shadow In The Cloud” in a stylish mediabook.
The big encounter between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan in “Iron Mask” also appears in the popular packaging. Also on board: both the 3D and the 4K versions of the film. And if you like films that feel like a punch in the pit of your stomach, Larry Clark’s “Kids” or “Lux Æterna”, the new film by scandal director Gaspar Noé (“Irreversible”, “Climax”), could be something for you be yours. In addition, it was recently announced as a 4-disc special edition and for the first time in 4K: The serial killer satire “American Psycho” with Christian Bale.
Should you as a collector ask yourself in the near future why you actually have so much money in your account – it is not due to a lack of beautiful film editions.
