Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi reveal the reasons the government did not immediately close flights to and from India even though the case corona in the country is soaring.
According to him, this was done because logistical traffic between the two countries was still needed. In particular related to the distribution of vaccines.
“But we still need logistical movements, meaning we need logistics from and to India such as oxygen roping and vaccines, and we do that safely,” Budi Karya said in a virtual press conference, Friday (23/4).
Even so, Budi Karya ensured that the Indonesian government would immediately limit flights to and from India. This is in line with the provisions issued by the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
“I think it is clear what the Director General of Immigration said, all this will not be given, therefore automatically, we do not allow passenger flights, the strictest is from the SE Director General of Immigration,” he explained.
For now, Budi Karya ensures that there are no regular passenger flights, only cargo.
“If there is movement from outside to inside and from inside to outside, we will set four airports, namely Soetta, Sam Ratulangi, Juanda and Medan,” he said.
Meanwhile, there will be three entrances from the sea, namely Dumai, Batam and Tanjung Pinang. While the land routes are Entikong and Malinau.
“We provide services and we will prepare SOPs to run the Ministry of Health program,” he said.
