Twitter made a update which allows tweeters to publish images in high resolution (up to 4K) on the social network. This feature was tested since March 2021 and is now official. This change will provide better rendering quality to images displayed on the platform, for users who want it.
Change involves slightly modify the Twitter settings in order to allow the social network to use the data under certain conditions. This is because the weight of high resolution images can be significantly greater than that of standard quality images, so Twitter has added a setting for allow the upload of HD images at 4K in WiFi only, with mobile data or in both situations. Depending on your data plan, you should therefore think carefully before activating the functionality with mobile data … ^^
For the rest, it is enough only to send images in HD or in 4K for Twitter to take them into account. Nothing’s easier. It only remains to be seen whether Twitter will extend this kind of functionality to video, the weight of which in 4K is much greater than for images. Remember, without falling into moralizing, that high quality files weigh heavy and therefore constitute a significant pollution by side effect (it is therefore sometimes avoidable if the image does not really need to be in HD or 4K). 😉
