This is a brand new program created by the Latvian Radio Big Band together with one of the brightest artists of the new generation in Latvia – Chris Noah. The Big Band has already collaborated creatively with popular genre musicians such as Ralph Eyland and The Sound Poets, creating genre-wide concert programs that address both jazz and popular music audiences, especially young people. Together with Chris Noah, a concert program was created with his internationally acclaimed original songs, arranged for the Latvian Radio Big Band by saxophonist Kristaps Lubovs and Artistic Director Kārlis Vanags.

The concert will feature Chris Noah’s songs such as “Fall Through”, “The Line”, “Distance”, as well as interpretations of melodies by such popular artists as “Bon Iver”, “The Kooks”, “Mumford and Sons”.

In the first part of the concert, the Latvian Radio Big Band will also play Kārlis Vanags’ original compositions from the vinyl record “Identitātes / Identities”, which won the Latvian Music Record of the Year Award “Golden Microphone”.

This is the third season of the Latvian Radio big band concert series “In the Spotlight”. Due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, it takes place without the presence of spectators. The concert was recorded in Spīķeri Concert Hall. This year, concerts with vocalists Kristīne Prauliņš and Daumantas Kalniņš will be performed as part of “Spotlights”. The second Big Band composition competition for young Baltic composers will also take place, in cooperation with JVLMA. The implementation of the concert series “In the Spotlight” is supported by the SCCF.

The concert will be available on ReTV and retv.lv on April 24 at 10 pm, as well as on April 25 at 12.30 pm.
