The original Call of Duty: Warzone map will never return

It’s been a hectic week Call of Duty: Warzone. Wednesday was Verdansk first invaded by zombies and then bombed into rags. Thursday night, the map came back in a new eighties-inspired costume, and as developer Raven Software says, the original design is gone for good.

It was during a presentation of new Verdansk this week (via PC Gamer) that Ravens Amos Hodge ruled out a future comeback for the original map. In addition to putting the past behind it, or the present in this case, the change has also allowed the developer to fix issues with the original – issues Raven does not want to bring back.

– Players will never again be able to visit Verdansk in modern times. This is a good opportunity for us to go in and update all the troubled areas and at the same time make improvements to the overall experience, said Hodge and pointed out, among other things, that it will now be easier to climb the rocks in Verdansk.

Otherwise, the new map introduces small and large changes pretty much everywhere. The Gora dam in the north, for example, is completely gone, the stadium is only half-finished and a giant radar system has appeared.

In addition to map changes, the latest Warzone season offers more weapons, new characters, a new battle pass and The Hunt for Adler – a series of challenges that players can complete to get various cosmetic items. You can see a complete list of changes at Raven’s website.
