Concerns about national security are the reason why the governments of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland stopped the process of taking over the originally British company ARM by the American company Nvidia.
The British are talking about national security and the public interest. They can stop the business due to the fact that although ARM is now owned by the Japanese company SoftBank, it is still a British entity that was born on the islands. The process is therefore halted and the entire acquisition will now be reviewed by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which will report to the UK government by the end of June this year.
Nvidia commented on the matter, saying that the acquisition has no national security implications for the UK. It will continue to work closely with the British authorities so that it can be successfully completed in the future.
