At 80, Denis Fawsitt did not think he was making money. Euromillions player for years, he won more than 130,000 euros … after forgetting his glasses!
This is what we call being lucky! A few days ago, an English couple won a jackpot of over 116,000 pounds (over 130,000 euros) playing EuroMillions. A tidy sum, which will allow retirees to offer themselves several gifts. And the least we can say is that they didn’t expect to win. For good reason: the numbers they filled in were not the ones they used to choose. Everything could indeed have been very different if Denis Fawsitt … had not forgotten his glasses! The 80-year-old Englishman normally used his family’s birthdays for his numbers, but, since he didn’t have his glasses, he asked the store staff for a pre-filled card.
“I realized I forgot my glasses and tried to pick my numbers, but I just couldn’t. I went to pay for my papers and asked the lady behind the counter for a pre-filled card. This is clearly one of my best decisions “, joked the lucky winner. And Denis Fawsitt had an amazing pre-feeling: “After what happened in the newsstand, I had this funny feeling that we were going to win. I told my wife Ann that night that I felt we were going to win big.”. The next morning he went to get his daily papers and asked the staff to check his ticket … which was indeed the winning ticket!
Denis no longer separates from his glasses!
“When the victory was confirmed we had a drink or two of sparkling wine, and when that horrible Covid-19 is gone and it’s safe, we’ll have a big family party to celebrate.”, rejoice the two lovers, who have won a huge sum of money. With their pot, they now plan to do work outside their home and furnish the interior for their old years. “This victory means we don’t have to worry about money anymore. We can afford some nice things but, above all, give a lot to the family. We have had our time, it’s theirs. Now. money will help them more than us, Denis added. I still play weekly and even though I won without my glasses I make sure to take them now. “
