That is to say: The Düsseldorfer EG loses 1: 6 at EHC Red Bull Munich, takes place 5 in the Nordgruppen and misses the quarterfinals. This is the end of this extraordinary season for the Red-Yellows.
In general, we are initially happy to have experienced the main round 2020/21 (ü) and to have seen a lot of DEG ice hockey. Still, we are wallowing in disappointment right now. We should have been able to pack that. A little more playing time would have been nice.
We congratulate the Grizzlys Wolfsburg and the Iserlohn Roosters on reaching the playoffs. Our final sprint was good, but so was hers. We wish all teams and fan camps intense games!
To the DEG family: Thank you for your support and loyalty. Your positive energy made us more than proud. We’ll get back to you soon with more information.
In spite of everything, ice hockey is the best sport in the world. Never forget that.

The game report:
1: 6 defeat in Munich; DEG missed the playoffs
Pity! The Düsseldorfer EG narrowly missed the playoffs 2020/21. At the end of the 2020/21 main round, she lost 6-1 at EHC Red Bull Munich (0-2, 0-1, 1-3). It ranks 5th in the final table, just behind the Iserlohn Roosters. This ends this extraordinary season for DEG.
About the game: The last match is quickly told. The DEG with an unchanged squad compared to the win against Augsburg on Friday. So again without Mathias From, but with Charlie Jahnke. The gate was guarded again by Hendrik Hane. The first section was relatively disheveled, and DEG in particular came into play with relatively great difficulty. Although she had a great opportunity through Jensen and a good one through Alanov, the increased chance was with Munich. The home side left two power plays unused, but still scored twice. By Redmond at 17:39 and by youngster Lindner at 19:37. Annoying: With the second goal, DEG lost the target unnecessarily behind their own goal.
Munich hardly endangered
In the middle section, the DEG played much more aggressively. She put the Red Bulls under more pressure and could have netted several times. But it was again the people of Munich who met. After Hendrik Hane had held strong several times before, Peterka made the decisive 3-0. Then DEG continued to engage, Kyle Cumiskey hit the post and Kenny Olimb and Daniel Fischbuch failed because of host keeper Kevin Reich. In the final third, DEG did not lose courage, but it did not succeed in putting Red Bull Munich in a decisive position. The “lid on it” made the ex-Düsseldorf Philip Gogulla, who scored in the power play to 4-0 for his team. Tobi Eder scored the consolation goal (46:36, assists Johannesen and Carey). Munich made the 5: 1 through Ehliz and the ultimately completely harmless 6: 1 through Parkes. That’s it.
Still: HELLO HELLO YOU!
