Cabinet wants to continue with Fieldlabs, but Breda has to decide for itself on the 538 party

The city council of Breda will discuss the event on Monday evening. Then there will most likely be a decision about whether or not the King’s Day party will take place next Saturday.

During the consultation, the question will play a role as to whether public order can still be maintained during the party. A spokesperson for the Breda Amphia Hospital previously pointed out that the party could lead to extra visitors at the Emergency Department.

Rush at petition and angry catering industry

In the meantime, the petition that a doctor from the Amphia Hospital had started against the test event is storming. By 9:30 PM, 275,000 people had digitally signed the petition.

According to the doctor, “concerned caregivers, patients on the growing waiting list, their loved ones and others” say that the party, near the hospital, is “a blow in the face” for patients and caregivers.

Breda catering entrepreneurs expressed their anger at the event earlier this week. “The fact that this event can take place at a stone’s throw from the hospitality industry, which as a sector is not allowed to do anything, is very stinging. It feels like a knife in your back”, said Johan de Vos, vice chairman of the Breda department of Koninklijke Horeca Nederland.
