UAE space boss calls the moon the first step towards a city on Mars


THE MIND OF THE PEOPLE – Work to achieve ambitious long-term goals United Arab Emirates (UAE) to build a city on Mars in 2117 has started.

United Arab Emirates hopes to send more missions to the Moon in the coming years that will help pave the way to the planet Mars.

Last week, the UAE announced a partnership with a Japanese company called Ispace to send the first lunar rover Rashid to the lunar surface.

Adnan Al Rais, director of the UAE’s Mars 2117 program at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, called the Moon the first step towards a city on the red planet.

“We always say that the Moon is the first step in developing scientific technology, building our capabilities,” said Adnan Al Rais, quoted from The National News, Sunday, April 18, 2021.

“Not only robotics but also human aspects, so one day we will be able to send humans to Mars,” he said.

The US space agency NASA and several other private companies are working on developing technology to land humans on the Moon.
