Effect of foliar fertilization with a mineral-enriched lactoferment (NPK) on the cultivation of chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) in the humid tropics.

Abstract: Effect of foliar fertilization with a mineral-enriched lactoferment (NPK) on the cultivation of chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) in the humid tropics. This research was developed at the “Puetate” farm, km 2 Av. La Lorena, UTM coordinates: X: 706313, and Y: 9971048, at 587 meters above sea level. Temperature: 24.6 ° C and RH: 85%. The agronomic response of the crop (plant height, days to flowering, days to first harvest and fruit weight) to foliar applications of lactoferment was analyzed, identifying the dose (5%, 10%, 20% and 30%) and frequency (5, 10 and 20 days) more effective to improve their response in the culture, a cost / benefit analysis of the treatments used was carried out. The completely randomized block design (DBCA) was used in an A x B + 1 scheme, with thirteen treatments and three repetitions. The Tukey test was used at the 5% level of significance, giving as results that the 30% dose of lactoferment generates plants of greater size and vigor with averages of 83.78 cm at 90 days, this in addition to accelerating the The productive cycle of the crop allows harvesting from 107 days, obtaining fruits weighing 8.05 grams. The frequency of application of lactoferment influences all the variables evaluated, applications every 5 days provide better results, plants 82.33 cm high are obtained at 90 days, the highest amount of fruit during the first 2 months of harvest were the T10 and T7 with 29.04 and 26.75 kg respectively. In the economic analysis, the most profitable treatment is the T9 since it allows obtaining $ 2.5 dollars for every dollar invested.
