China Ready to Invest in Furniture IDR 20 Trillion in RI

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia China plans to invest US $ 1.38 billion in Indonesia or around Rp.20.01 trillion in Indonesia. The plan is for the investment to be placed in the furniture sector.

“So far, China has invested a lot in West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan). This year investors from there will invest in Indonesia, especially in West Kalimantan and Batang City, Central Java (Central Java). Djauhari said a number of Chinese businessmen would visit Indonesia in mid-April – May 2021, especially to two regions, West Kalimantan and Central Java.

“Of course this investment is an opportunity for regions to advance and continue to build trade cooperation,” he explained.

According to Djauhari, West Kalimantan played a major role in increasing the value of Indonesia’s exports to China, namely 10.13 percent.

“What’s interesting is that Indonesia’s exports have increased, including the contribution from West Kalimantan, significantly 10.13 percent. With this increase, we are able to reduce the Indonesia-China trade problem by almost 69 percent, this is data from China,” he said.

He mentioned that Indonesia was in 4th place in ASEAN as the biggest exporter to China last year.

“Until the current pandemic, the relationship between Indonesia and China is well established and the total realization of China’s investment in Indonesia in 2020 is US $ 4.8 billion,” he said.

The value of Indonesia’s exports has increased by 15 percent compared to the total exports in 2019.

“As for superior and potential products, iron and steel increased by 136.52 percent, paper and paperboard 133.25 percent, tin and goods thereof 544.07 percent and other goods,” he said.

However, the total trade between the two countries fell to US $ 78.48 billion due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
